Alna Project

We were lucky to have our Alna art advisory project featured in an issue of Maine Homes Magazine. For this house, overlooking the Sheepscot River and the bucolic countryside of midcoast Maine, we helped the owners select three landscape paintings to accompany their existing collection, in the home they renovated themselves. Though the house has now changed owners, it remains a favorite project of mine and photographed particularly well given the abundance of natural light.

In the kitchen, a Henry Isaacs oil complements the Cedar & Moss fixtures, open shelving, marble countertops, and the lovely cabinet color (Pigeon by Farrow & Ball.) The owners have since added another work from the Maine-based artist to their collection, hanging proudly in their current home.

Serving as a reminder of the couple’s travels throughout the Southeast is a lowcountry landscape by South-Carolina based artist Jennifer Black. It anchors the bar setup, accented by the West Elm lamp, brass accessories, and topiary.

The Jessie Mackay scene of Provence is a nod to the lavender farm where the couple previously lived and built together. Mackay also happens to be based in the North Carolina town where the owners lived for decades when raising their family.
